Abstract

Aim: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the mixture of the structural systematic method in comparison with the solution-oriented method on marital conflicts, boundaries, and triangulation of couples in Isfahan. Methods: The research was quasi-experimental with pre-test, post-test, and follow-up with study and control groups. The statistical population included all married couples and couples with conflicts in Isfahan in 2019-2020, from which 30 couples were selected by convenience sampling and randomly divided into three study groups and one control group (10 couples in each group). The research tool included the Marital Conflict Scale of Sanai et al. (1996) and the Borders and Triangulation Scale of Dehghani and Yousefi (2019). The study group received the mixed method of the structural system taken from Shirzadi et al. (2017), and the other study group received the solution-oriented method taken from the Yousefi training package (2016) for eight 90-minute sessions. The data were analyzed using repeated measures variance. Results: The results indicated that the mixed method of structural systematic method and solution-oriented method are effective on improving marital conflicts (F = 178.229 and P <0.01), triangulation (F = 5.612 and P <0.01) and inflexible boundaries (F = 178.29 and P <0.01), flexible boundaries (F = 905.67 and P <0.01) and promiscuous boundaries (F = 202.15 and P <0.01). The results of the Tukey test indicated that the mixed method is more effective than the system method on dependent variables, and this effect was reported stable in the follow-up stage. Conclusion: It can be concluded from the present results that the mixed method can be used to improve marital conflicts, triangulation, and border dimensions. However, both methods showed their effectiveness
