Abstract

Aim: This study aimed to compare the meaning in life and affective control among survivors of victims of COVID-19 and mortality due to biological causes. Methods: The present study is causal-comparative, and in terms of data collection, it is the type of field research. The statistical population of this study included all survivors of COVID-19 and mortality due to biological causes with an age range of 20 to 50 years that have lived in Tehran in 2020-2021 and have lost a family member during the last 3 to 6 months. The convenience sampling method has been used to select 100 people mourning the death of a person or family members because of Coronavirus or other reasons (50 people mourning the death of a beloved one due to Coronavirus and 50 people mourning the death of a beloved one because of biological causes). The research instruments included the Williams, Chambless, and Ahrens Affective Control Scale (1997) and the meaning in life questionnaire of Steger, Frazier, Oishi, and Caller (2006). The multivariate and univariate analysis of variance test and SPSS statistical software version 26 were used to analyze the research data. Results: The results indicated that there was a significant difference between the variables of the meaning of life and emotion control among the survivors of COVID-19 victims and mortality due to biological causes (P = 0.05). Conclusion: The outcomes indicated that survivors of Coronavirus victims can overcome their sorrow by controlling their negative emotions.
