Determine the validity and reliability of the Persian version of the Temporal focusing scale

Abstract

Background and Aim: A part from the perception of the present situation, one’s life includes the future, the present and the past. A time perspective is the considered as a general view of the people about the past, present and future at given time. The Temporal Focus Scale is a scale that measures the amount of the attention that each individual specifically devote to understanding past, present and future time. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the psychometric measures of Temporal focusing scale.  Methods: This research was a descriptive study standardization. For this purpose, 250 Students were selected randomly from Ardakan University students’. They respond to Temporal Focus scale and Zimbardo Time Perspective Questionnaire as peer form. Finally, the collected data were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis, Pearson Correlation and Cronbache, alpha.  Results: The results of the data analysis showed that the person version of the Temporal Focus in the Iranian sample has the same factor structure as the original version of the article. Cotenant validity of the test was approved, structural validity was verified using confirmatory factor analysis method .results showed that all factor had good fit (P<0.01). Conclusion: In sum, the results of the study confirm the validity and reliability of the Persian version of the Temporal focus scale and suggested that it can easily be used clinical and research setting.
