Predicting Academic Motivation Based on Academic Adjustment and Academic Burnout in Students of Islamic Azad University of Hamadan

Abstract

Background and Aim: Academic motivation is an important factor in determining the personal growth and academic achievement of students in universities, so the purpose of this study is to predict academic motivation based on academic adjustment and burnout in students of Islamic Azad University of Hamadan. Method: This research is descriptive-correlational in terms of applied purpose and in terms of data collection method. The statistical population includes all students of Hamadan Azad University in the academic year 1-1400, which is equal to 14,750 people; Multi-stage cluster sampling method and sample size using Tabachenik and Fidel (2007) formula equal to 106 people who were selected due to drop in subjects and caution equal to 110 people. The instruments of the present study included Frederick et al.'s (2004) Academic Achievement Questionnaire, Baker and Cyriac (1984) Academic Adjustment Questionnaire, and Bresso et al.'s (1997) Academic Burnout Questionnaire. Results: The results showed that there is a significant and direct relationship between academic adjustment and academic motivation with correlation coefficient (r = 0.362) at a significance level of 99%; There is a significant and inverse relationship between burnout and academic achievement with the correlation coefficient (r = -0.284) at a significance level of 99% and also academic adjustment and burnout is able to predict students' academic achievement so that 17.9 The percentage of variance of students' academic motivation variable is explained by two variables: academic adjustment and academic burnout. Conclusion: Therefore, according to the findings, it can be said that academic adjustment and academic burnout predict the academic motivation of students of the Islamic Azad University of Hamadan.
