Developing a Healthy Body Image Package for Adolescents 12 to 15 Years Old with Body Dissatisfaction: A Qualitative Approach to Content Analysis

Background and aim: The present study was conducted to develop a healthy body image package for adolescents aged 12 to 15 years with body dissatisfaction. Methods: The research method was comparative content analysis based on grounded theory. In the qualitative part of determining the content, structure and final shape of the healthy body image package, the five-step method based on thematic (content) analysis was performed according to the network analysis of Atride Sterling (2001). The statistical population of the study, in addition to the scientific texts related to healthy body image, included experts and specialists in the field of adolescent psychotherapy. Sampling was done purposefully based on the number of scientific texts 30 cases according to the content related to the strategies of promoting healthy body image of adolescents until reaching theoretical saturation and the number of experts 6 people from experienced experts with more than 10 years of experience in adolescent psychotherapy. The data were analyzed using comparative content analysis based on grounded theory. Results: The findings of the study showed that the content of the healthy body image package includes four main concepts: teaching perceptual strategies, teaching emotional strategies, teaching cognitive strategies and teaching behavioral strategies and the validity of the educational package was also equal to 1. Conclusion: According to the results of the present study, it is possible to teach this educational package in order to reduce body dissatisfaction among adolescent to managers, teachers and counsellors.
